"One of the hottest topics this summer is the Survivor TV series. The sixteen castaways were each allowed to bring along one personal luxury item. If you were on Survivor, what item would you bring to the island, and why?"

"A fully-loaded NATO FAL assault rifle. 'Why' should be obvious."
-- R'ykandar Korra'ti

"A bad attitude, so I could get kicked out of that silly program as soon as possible."
-- Scott Lammers

"I never saw the show, so I'm not sure what would be considered a luxury item."
-- Maria Bellamy

"Hmm... probably something like one of those squirt bottles with a battery-operated foam-bladed fan on it -- the kind they sell at most amusement parks. The water spritzing through the fan makes you just that much cooler. Alternately, I'd probably bring a large (and I mean huge) bag of Jelly-Belly jellybeans in my favorite flavors. They won't melt in the hot sun, and the sugar can really keep you going when you're otherwise subsisting on rice, fish, and rats."
-- Laura Begley

"Naaaah, bring a really huge super soaker! Dunno, never seen the show."
-- Janis Neville

"Considering the difficulty with food, how about an IV bottle and stand and a heck of a lot of Ringer's lactate.... Otherwise I bet I don't have to wait for my bad attitude to get me voted off; I get medivac'ed."
-- Cathy Fiorello

"A satellite phone and enough battery power to last me until my ride home arrives."
-- Ted Begley

"My diary. I don't write in it every day, but whenever something significant happens. So when I'm old and feebleminded, I can read in it and remember my life again."
-- Sylvia Wendell

"Would a complete set of the Foxfire books count? Not that I've ever watched the show."
-- John Brantley

"Any luxury item? I've got two answers. First, the practical one - a good reference for jungle survival. Second, the fun one - Wynona Ryder."
-- Thomas Samples

"A big bottle of booze. To get the rest of them drunk."
-- Scott Thomas

"I would bring a laptop computer and extra batteries so I could keep in touch with the rest of the world."
-- Nancy Hartshorn

"I never go anywhere without at least one Tarot deck, though I'd have to get one laminated first to make it waterproof. Readings would help pass the time, and help me decide who to vote against."
-- Tracy Hite
