This artistically innovative deck combines photography and computer imagery to express the centuries-old Celtic Pagan traditions of England and Ireland. The vivid artwork is well suited to meditation and visualization, especially for beginners. The Major Arcana have been renamed and slightly rearranged to follow the Fool's Journey through his Initiation. The Minors are pip-style, featuring embellished suit icons over very scenic historic sites. Keywords are also given on all the Minors. The portraits used throughout the deck tend to have blank faces; I would have preferred more expressive characters, especially in photographs. The cards are larger than average, but flexible enough to shuffle easily with a little practice.

The companion book explains the symbolism used on each card, and discusses the traditional background of the sites featured. Both upright and reversed meanings are given. The book also follows the Journey of the Fool through the Major Arcana, even though the deck itself uses the Green Man instead of the Fool. There are several spreads for divination and meditation, including (of course) the Celtic Cross.

Knowledge of Tarot basics isn't really needed to use the Sacred Circle Tarot, but the changes in the Majors may be confusing to the novice. Ths set is definitely recommended for those seeking to expand their Tarot collection, or for anyone interested in learning more about Celtic Pagan beliefs.
